Russia’s GM-AvtoVAZ shifts to 5-day working week from Nov 5
SAMARA, Oct 30 (PRIME) -- Russian automaker GM-AvtoVAZ will resume a 5-day working week from November 5 due to higher demand, a representative of the company told PRIME on Friday.
“GM-AvtoVAZ returns to a 5-day working week. The plant will operate in two 8-hour shifts. The return to a 5-day working week is connected with higher demand for cars,” the person said.
The plant will halt production on November 2-3 due to a changed operation mode of its supplier AvtoVAZ.
GM-AvtoVAZ introduced a 4-day working week from July 1 and planned to work in this regime until the end of 2015.
U.S. General Motors and Russian top car maker AvtoVAZ own 50% each in GM-AvtoVAZ, launched in 2001. The joint venture plans to launch production of the next generation Chevrolet Niva off-roadster in 2016.
